Yamaha 6090 received recieved but will not power on, returned item to seller.Seller confirmed receiver was received. Looking for credit for the received that was paid for.
But no issues after the update. I have had this unit connected for about a year now using a upconverting DVD player and a HD cable box. This is the less expensive / cheeper version of the RX-V2700. Although the same components used and vertually the same specs, this unit comes with a plastic face plate and knobs (not metal like the 2700). I have a 5.1 speaker system from Definitive Technology and have been very happy with the performance.BTW - if you purchase this unit, make sure it is running the latest firmware (you can download on the Yamaha web site) or you may have problems with audio cut outs as I did.
this is a great receiver. You can find HDMI receivers out there for a lot less now, but probably with less options. I don't know too much about receivers, but after owning this Yamaha receiver for 6 months now, I know this much. I haven't tried using all the bells and whistles on this beast yet, but the 2 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output is wonderful.Only drawback is the price.
a great buy, i would recommend to anyone. the HDMI connectivity was a MUST for me, and the yamaha delivers the upscaled connection that i wanted. this is a great buy (especially with the amazon discount from the original retail price). the yamaha HTR-6090BL is very easy to use and handles my system with ease and enough power to all the speakers to have a clear and strong audio & visual experience. i plugged a xbox 360 via component and a cable box (dvr) via hdmi to the yamaha, and the picture that is transmits to the tv is superb.
The best part is my wife can operate it also. It even found one speaker that I had the wires reversed on. Replaced my way to difficult to operate Denon (and I'm a gadget guy) with the Yamaha. Easy to setup, I like the HDMI interfaces and the automatic speaker tuning was a no brainer. The sound is just as good or better than the Denon.
